Abstract :
This paper presents the systematic design methodology for the design of electric vehicle propulsion system. Power rating of three phase induction motor is calculated to achieve the pre-specified vehicle dynamic characteristics. The effect on electric motor power rating with variation of vehicle maximum speed is analyzed. Simulation results for vehicle dynamics are shown and validated. Furthermore, the obtained result is utilized to design a three wheeler electric vehicle for maximum speed of 50 km/hr.
