Abstract :
The performance of power lines as a medium to transfer data using advanced technologies needs to be investigated and hence a power line channel modeling is required. In this paper, an effort is made to simulate and model a broadband over power line communication channel to investigate and compare the channel model gain and phase profiles over a frequency range of 0-20 MHz with different and moderate path numbers, differing path parameters and varying line lengths. The results observed from the performance profiles of the work indicate suitability and possibility of transmission over the power line channels. The attenuation is however high under certain conditions.
