Abstract :
This paper presents a novel pseudo random sequence generator based on a new chaotic system. The chaotic system contains a single nonlinear term dz2 and is very simple in its mathematical structure. Some basic dynamical characteristics of the chaotic system are investigated theoretically and numerically, including stability of equilibrium points, Poincaré mapping, Lyapunov exponent spectrum and bifurcation diagrams. The chaotic system is implemented on a digital signal processor (DSP) platform. The randomness of the binary sequences generated by the proposed chaotic system are tested by the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) test suit. The results illustrate that the chaotic system has rich dynamic behaviors, sensitivity of the initial conditions and good randomness. Therefore, this system is suitable to use in the stream cipher.
