Abstract :
In the present paper analyses, by means of a simulation, the gain characteristics of doped fiber amplifiers with Erbium EDFA, Due to the fact that these optical amplifiers do not have a flat gain response for all optical spectrum in which they work. In the simulation was proposed a WDM transmission with 16 channels working in the band C, in the first part of the simulation was used an EDFA amplifier working alone, in the second part of the simulation was used an EDFA in conjunction with a filter of flat gain GFF, which reduces the gain fluctuations caused by the EDFA. Finally, the power of the 16 optical channels was measured, to the end of the transmission in each of the cases to determine the standard deviation and to quantify the variation of gain for both cases.
