  • Abstract
Accurate temperature measurement plays a pivotal role in Magnetic Resonance-guided focused Ultrasound Surgery (MRgFUS) treatment. However, the magnetic resonance parameters affect the result. The purpose of this work is to investigate the effects of thickness parameter and the relationship between temperature and thickness. An experiment system is setup with a home-build HIFU device, a tissue-mimicking phantom and a 3T MR. Also a thermal simulation with the same acoustic parameters is performed. The temperature elevation in coronal plane at focus keeps the same and that in sagittal plane shows a downtrend. A linear relationship between thickness and temperature elevation is used to reduce the errors and improve the accuracy of temperature measurement when choosing large thickness in the temperature monitor of sagittal plane.
