Abstract :
This paper discusses a novel approach to utilizing extra thrusters for additional vertical lift for an ROV. The approach uses an auto-configurable algorithm which enables the operator to switch between the standard configuration and the enhanced-lift configuration, without changing the power supply for the vehicle. The results of a modified bollard pull test and a weight lift experiment illustrating the performance of the new configuration are also presented. Figure 1 shows the ROV with the added thrusters.
