Technological web platform for integrated public transport system (SITP) of the West Center Metropolitan Area in Colombia

This paper shows the technological web platform "MEGARUTA. CO". The platform is a modular application that manages: planning, control and user information of the integrated public transport system (SITP) of the West Central Metropolitan Area in Colombia. The platform has two access portals, the first is for the user of the SITP where he can plan his travel within the system (web portal) and the second access is for the manager of the platform who can plan and control the system (admin portal). Mathematical optimization models, for generating optimal time tables to dispatch the buses and to control the fulfillment of the time tables, are also proposed and implemented into the platform. The technological platform allows the different actors of the integrated public transport system, in real time, have the necessary information for an effective decision-making.
