Abstract :
In the last years, the electricity and drinking water consumption have been increased in the world, the agents of electrical sector have done main efforts and investments with the purpose of satisfying energy requirements and mitigate environmental damages, nevertheless the drinking water consumption has not received attention. Ecuadorian customers of electricity distribution companies do not participate in active manner regulating their consumptions (DR-Demand Response), due to lack incentive mechanisms, the same situation occurs with the drinking water distribution companies. A hybrid Smart meter system for electricity and drinking water consumption is proposed; the system is implemented and tested in a household. Results show the economic sense of the rational use of energy resources. The Smart meter design methodology proposed involves the community.
