Abstract
This paper surveys two techniques for information management, metadata and big data, by addressing the common issues in this field, such as the lack, recovery, and validation of information. After introducing the two techniques just mentioned, the role of the end user in information management systems is analyzed. Finally, a model to improve the management of information from the end user´s perspective is proposed.
