Abstract
This paper presents a foot mounted system with an Inertial Sensor Unit (IMU) and two proximity sensors for dance training. With the IMU data, the movement of the foot is tracked by an Inertial Navigation (IN) algorithm using Kalman filter. To improve the estimation, the measurements from the proximity sensors and the zero velocity are used to update the position of the foot. Since dancing requires rhythmic and positional accuracy, the orientation and position of the foot are used to analyze the trainee´s movement. Along with the foot´s pose, the timing in pacing rhythm is also recognized by detecting steps and step moving time.
