Abstract :
In multi-mode based data processing schemes, the most appropriate mode is selected as the one for application under the comparison of different kinds of available modes, it has been applied in scanning image quantized coefficients and image prediction coding maturely to improve the processing efficiency and coding efficiency. However, we have found that mode index information increases but the residual image information will decrease gradually with the prediction mode number increasing when performing intra prediction, which is a contradiction to the reduction of the final bitrate. In view of this interesting phenomenon, we analyze the multi-mode intra prediction particularly to discuss the influences of multi-mode scheme for the final bitrate. In this paper, we analyzed the multi-mode intra prediction particularly to discuss the influences of multi-mode for the final bitrate and establish the mathematical model for multi-mode scheme by experimental simulation. The experimental results show that multi-mode scheme can reduce data bitrate commendably under appropriate mode number, but the efficiency of multi-mode will be poor gradually when the mode number increases to a certain value determined by image features and modes similarity to some extent.
