Abstract :
Under the circumstance of hardware resource limitation in satellite onboard switches, a Concurrent Round-Robin-Based Variable-Length Packets Dispatching (CRRVD) scheme suitable for Clos-network switches is presented in this paper. Compared with cell based Concurrent Round-Robin-Based Dispatching (CRRD) scheme, CRRVD is an improved version with the ability of dispatching a whole IP packet each time, which can save the hardware resource consumed for packets reassembling at output ports. CRRVD is used in a 16 × 16 three-stage Clos-network switch, and the whole switch fabric is implemented in a Xilinx XC5VLX330T FPGA. Typical simulated results show that the scheme works correctly.
