Abstract :
The dielectric study of p-azoxy anisole and 1,1-diacetyl ferrocene liquid crystalline substances in dioxan solution at different concentrations and room temperature is reported. The dipole moment and the relaxation time are evaluated and a comparison of the dipole moment values is done with those calculated by using statical methods. The contributions of electronic polarizability, London dispersion attractive, exchange repulsive and dipole-dipole forces to the molar volume are determined using free volume calculated from the measured ultrasonic data. This study provides information about the macroscopic isotropic behaviour of the liquid crystals and about the solute - solvent interactions.
