Behaviour of streamersin liquids under step voltage in point-plane geometry

The purpose of this paper is to correlate the charge of streamers in both polarities and the volume of dissolved gases (generated by streamers) determined by chromatography. Preliminary results of spectroscopic studies of the emitted light are presented. The energetic balance shows that vaporization is dominant for slow streamers but ionization could be a possible mechanism. For fast streamers, dissociation and ionization are much likely, vaporization being also present.
