Abstract :
In digital communication technique the most important issue is to receive data at receiver side similar to the data send from the transmitter side with a high speed using fewer channel bandwidth. This means that it is very important to test the systems in terms of probability of error P(e) to observe the system´s performance. Each modulation technique has different performance while dealing with signals, which normally are affected by noise. A performance analysis of M-ary frequency shift keying (M-ary FSK) has been carried out in this paper. To better understand the M-ary FSK system it is simulated for different number of levels or symbols (M=2n for n=1, 2, 3,...etc) using Matlab with Simulink scientific software. When increasing the number of levels (M), the basic result, that is the decrease of bit error rate (BER), but in general M-ary modulation systems are more bandwidth efficient than other binary modulation systems.
