Abstract
The pace of change in the utilities´ industry is rapid and dramatic. As shown in this paper, a vision must therefore address business transformation, technology and process integration and operational excellency not only in core processes but also in support processes. Concentration on core business while going in the direction of IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing needs a consolidated approach to justify the business processes as well as design and implementation of customer specific solutions. A solution of products, systems and services must fill the gap between financial enterprise resource planning systems, customer relationship management systems and the technical IT world with power system control, geographical information systems and maintenance systems.
