Abstract :
Optical-wireless (FiWi) technology provides huge amount of bandwidth and stability to the network users in a flexible manner i.e. it provides “Anywhere Anytime” connection service to the users with very high speed. FiWi access network is a promising access technology as it integrates the technical merit of optical and wireless network. ONU placements, energy savings and survivability are key issues of FiWi network. In past, many authors have proposed various ONU placements techniques but they have not computed the performance of network for those schemes. In this paper, we analyze and compute performance parameters of FiWi network i.e. packet delivery ratio (PDR), network throughput and end-to-end delay for random network scenario. We generate a connection matrix between OLT, ONU and wireless routers and compute the performance of the FiWi network. This analysis enables us to compare overall performance of any random FiWi network as well as for various ONU placements algorithms of FiWi network.
