Abstract :
The linear relation between ΔH≠ and ΔS≠ (the compensation law) has been verified for relaxations in several polymers. The predicted free energy has discontinuities corresponding to actual relaxation peaks. While it is more correct to deduce ΔH≠ and ΔS≠ from a log (υ/T) vs 1/T plot rather than from a log υ vs 1/T plot, in no way this gives the real activated values because ΔG* is usually neglected.
