Abstract :
Although experimental verification of electron transport in biopolymers is sparse, there is enough circumstantial evidence to suggest that hopping by the tunnelling mechanism offers a microcircuit concept for biology which is firmly based on modern concepts of the amorphous solid state, and which exactly parallels the latest developments in the new science of molecular electronics.
