Abstract :
In Taiwan, the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) had regulated EMC since 1997. It can be said that most manufacturers are familiar with EMC requirements and regulations since they have been implemented for so many years. However, the authors still found that there are many difficulties for foreign companies attempting to go through the application process smoothly. The problem might come from insufficient technical documents, test reports, etc. A new control system has also been introduced by BSMI from January 1, 2000. The new system might also impact manufacturers in some way. This paper attempts to provide an overview of Taiwanese EMC regulations from past to present, look ahead to the future development of EMC in Taiwan and try to work out a better way to approach the requirements and effectively eliminate the EMC certification process based on the follow-up experience the authors have had
