Abstract
This paper reports some investigations on the millimeter-wave conformal antennas. A hybrid optimization method was used to implement the conformal antenna design. The substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) slotted antenna was adopted as element antenna. The standard genetic algorithm (GA) is used to synthesize amplitude and phase weights of elements to satisfy the specified beam width and sidelobe. The space mapping method was used to implement the design with the help of a full-wave simulator HFSS. Two millimeter-wave cylindrical conformal antennas have been designed for the recently proposed QLink-pan communication system with vertical and horizontal polarizations, respectively. Experiments show good performance of the designed prototypes.
