Abstract :
This paper shares new results obtained from research undertaken to investigate the electromagnetic behavior of the tri-plate line (TPL). The TPL is a fixture used for testing the radiated immunity of automotive electronic modules. Transmission line theory and computational electromagnetic modeling techniques were used to investigate spatial and frequency dependent variations of electromagnetic fields as well as the interference induced in test items. Simulation results were verified against extensive measurement data. This paper provides a new insight to the electromagnetic characteristics of the TPL and should benefit test laboratories and product designers alike
