Abstract :
The effect of using electrically-long noise sources (ELSs) on the emission of a mobile-PC heat sink structure has been studied. Physical noise sources for the CPU clock-net and the system bus-net have been constructed within the framework of the method of moments (MoM). Metallic structure has been excited by the ELS and its frequency response has been compared with that by the point noise source (PTS). The emission strength by the ELS shows very slow decay in the 2-5 GHz frequency-range, which contradicts the prediction by the PTS. By putting grounding posts around the heat plate, emission suppression effect by the Faraday cage has been numerically experimented upon for a simple geometry of a mobile-PC
