Abstract
In this paper, a wideband antenna with two controllable notched bands is presented. The antenna is a planar type and simply designed with microstrip feeding structure. The notched bands are achieved by a pair of E-shaped resonators which are placed along with the feed line, and the central frequency of notched bands can be controlled by changing the dimensions of the proposed antenna. The frequency characteristics of the antenna with different dimensions are studied based on electromagnetic (EM) simulation. The predicted bandwidth is from approximately 3.6 to 12.4 GHz for |s11|<; -10 dB. This design shows satisfactory radiation patterns in the passband. Significant gain reduction within the rejected bands is observed.
