Abstract :
A broadband random metasurface for Radar Cross Section (RCS) reduction is proposed in this paper. The metasurface is composed of double multi-folded loop elements. By adjusting the size of each element, different reflection phases are obtained. Thus the incident plane wave is scattered into arbitrary directions. In order to demonstrate the validity of the design, a random metasurface with a dimension of 480 mm×480 mm is constructed and simulated. For the normal incidence, the backward scattering can be reduced by 10 dB in the range of 7.8-14.1 GHz. The oblique incidence condition with the angle ranging from 10° to 30° is also investigated, in which the 7-dB bistatic RCS reduction can be obtained from 8 GHz to 14 GHz.
