Abstract :
Wireless power transfer (WPT) technique has been applied in wide range of applications. Metamaterials (MMs) have been proposed to improve the performance of WPT systems. This paper provides a review on WPT using MMs, with respect to performance optimization and misalignment tolerance. Also it compares different types of MMs proposed in the literature. Furthermore, the paper gives an overview on methods to analyze WPT systems with MMs. It is found that both transferred power and power transfer efficiency can be improved significantly by using MMs. Future directions and challenges are discussed.
