Abstract :
A new design of a miniaturized Cavity Slot Antenna element is proposed and presented for an antenna array. The antenna-size reduction is achieved by adding two butterfly shaped slot ends to a narrow rectangular slot and a cavity reflector. The new design is slighter compared with common slot antennas. In order to get a compact and facile design, a vertical folding microstrip transmission line is used in feed. The structure of the antenna and feed are studied and simulated with HFSS on computer. A wider scanning angle relies on the antenna-size reduction for smaller element distance, which is also studied.
