Abstract :
A novel radiation pattern reconfigurable antenna operating at Ka-band is presented based on tunable graphene superstrate. The superstrate consists of two symmetrical DC biased graphene-aluminia-silicon structures separated by a dielectric slab, which is placed half a wavelength far away from the top of the waveguide fed slot source, thus forms a Fabry-Parot resonant antenna with tunable radiation gain and beam width. The superstrate is analyzed by transfer matrix method and shows an adjustable transmission response with different surface resistivity of the graphene film. By tuning the graphene resistivity through biasing voltage between graphene layer and silicon layer, a Ka-band antenna with reconfigurable radiation gain and beam width is well designed and demonstrated.
