Abstract :
Summary form only given. The ability to ensure that the integrity of a facility is protected and maintained is directly related to the ability to manage change. There is much at stake here; the North Slope oil fields account for 16% of the nations oil production and are the largest oil production fields in North America. The continued production, the continued renewal of licenses to operate, as well as the opportunity to continue exploration will depend on how well changes are managed at the facilities. The purpose of this study is to examine, from a systems perspective, the current management of change (MoC) process in effect on the North Slope. From this work we recommend an information architecture for facilitating the MoC process, suggest how it can improve the work that is being done and why a web based system is the approach to take. As the oil production fields continue to change and expand the tools being used to facilitate this process must also change and improve. It is the hope of this study to suggest just such an improvement
