Abstract :
The central section of an E-plane branched OMT including the shaped internal lamina is analysed as a single waveguide block using a general 2.5D Finite Element Method. The approach combines a planar 2D FEM discretisation with the harmonic behaviour of fields in the third direction and can include internal shaped septa. Computed results compare well with 3D FEM calculations, showing to be significantly faster and much more integrable with other waveguide sections analysed with modal techniques.
