Abstract :
The paper presents an overview on a general method to compute the response of arbitrary electromagnetic systems to generic illumination field (i.e., not necessarily plane waves or wave port fields) without the need to re-mesh the physical layout for different excitation fields. The basic idea is similar to the transfer function in system theory were a special solution of the problem (the Green´s function or the impulse response) is computed only once and then used to predict the electromagnetic behaviour of the device under varying environmental circumstances.
