Technology analysis on the information appliances

From the beginning of 1980s, the Korean government has focused on technology development plans which eventually enhance the national productivity and boost the economy. The technological development plan for information appliances was initiated by ETRI in Korea, a government funding Research Institute, for enhancing the technological level of the information technology industry. The plan was set in 2000 and is now being performed. The government funding research in electronics field is normally performed by ETRI, sometimes co-worked by companies. The research on the information appliance development is being performed by ETRI supported by several medium size private companies. The authors call this type of research an Industry-Government-Research Institute Consortium
