Abstract :
Energy saving has become an important issue in wireless communications from both environment and economic considerations. In this paper, the optimal multi-relay placement (OMRP) scheme in Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) is proposed. It determines the optimal positions of relays with the objective of maximizing the energy efficiency. In addition, the optimal number of required relays around evolved-NodeB (eNodeB) is obtained. The simulation results show that the proposed optimal placement scheme increases the energy efficiency and the throughput than the schemes with fixed relays around eNodeB.
