Abstract
Temperature and strain sensing was performed with a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor using a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) as a tunable narrowband source with the current. To avoid wavelength fluctuation of the VCSEL, temperature stabilization was performed with a Peltier device. The measurement error was reduced by stabilization to 1/4.5 in the standard deviation for temperature sensing. The effect of the reflectivity of the FBG on temperature and strain sensing was measured and compared.
