Abstract
This paper outlines the development of a robust adaptive maximum power capture control scheme for a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind energy conversion system (WECS). Within this scheme, the nonlinear control affine model of the system is brought into the canonical form via a diffeomorphism transformation. Then under the assumption that system parameters are unknown, a robust adaptive control scheme is developed for the new system to ensure robust tracking and stability. The proposed control scheme consists of two terms, a linear control term for the closed loop system dynamics and an uncertainty compensation term to count for uncertainties and external disturbances. The proposed control scheme ensures maximum power tracking of the WECS along with stability and robustness of the closed loop system. A simulation study is carried out on a 3 kW WECS to show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
