Abstract :
Template security is a critical issue in biometric systems because biometric templates cannot easily revoked and reissued. Nevertheless, biometric systems are prone to a variety of attacks. Hence, providing security to this form is of prime importance. In our work, we propose a biometric cryptosystem which combines biometrics with cryptography by integrating palmprint biometric templates into cryptographic applications. The process consists of a number of steps starting with a user selected transformation to encrypt the data, followed by feature extraction procedure, and an error correction scheme to tolerate reasonable amount of intra-class variation. Experimental results show that this system can assure a higher security with a high entropy value, low correlation and a low Error rates.
