Abstract :
This paper deals with the study of the torque ripple minimization in a synchronous reluctance machine (SRM). The main focus is to present a comparison between a high level modeling of a three dimensional model and an experimental evaluation regarding to the rotor topology. It is well known that in electrical machines the low torque ripple is generally required to reduce acoustic noise and mechanical resonance vibration especially in wind turbines. The Winding Function Theory and the 3D Finite Element Method are used in the present paper to calculate the torque variation. To ensure the objective of torque ripple minimization three techniques are studied, the influences of stator second slot or teeth, winding chording and the rotor structure which is studied and compared to experimental results.
