Abstract
This paper addresses the geometric control of a coupled bilinear distributed parameter systems. The objective is to control a boundary output by manipulating a selected manipulated variable. The design, based on the characteristic index concept, yields an infinite dimensional control law which enhances the performance in closed-loop. The effectiveness of the geometric control law developed is demonstrated by simulation in the case of a co-current heat exchanger. In this application, the objective is to control the outlet temperature of the cold fluid by manipulating its velocity.
