Abstract :
This paper presents a prediction of the millimeter wave propagation in order to investigate the channel characteristics in outdoor/indoor environments, as the most of 60 GHz wireless systems are deployed in different environments. We have proposed the High Speed Interface Physical Layer Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (HSI PHY OFDM) of the IEEE 802.15.3c standard to investigate the coverage performance of the 60 GHz Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). Co-simulation techniques between heterogeneous environments for exploiting the advantages of each modeling program have been used. Advanced Design System software and Matlab/Simulink are involved, both transmitter and receiver of OFDM system are designed in Matlab/Simulink, and the Radio Frequency (RF) channel is designed in ADS. Two important channel properties characterized, namely large scale and small scale are used. We have studied RF transmission over radio system part of Radio Over fiber (ROF), where the performance of the ROF is evaluated in terms of the Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) using different modulation schemes (QPSK and 16-QAM). The simulation results reveal that the proposed co-simulation system can analyze clearly the transmission of information at 60 GHz, with the presence of obstruction and different kinds of attenuations.
