The US Air Force\´s Arnold Engineering Development Center (AFDC) has a strategic objective "to nurture a high-performance work force". A multi-criteria measurement system, the Center\´s Human Resource Index (CHRI), was developed to measure progress on this objective. This paper describes the index, its evaluation and refinement, and lessons learned after two years of use
