Suppliers of software are often of strategic importance, and the preferred mode for managing strategic suppliers is partnership sourcing. Using an illustrative case, the paper demonstrates that software supply relationships share many of the characteristics of partnerships without realising the performance levels, and the authors analyse why this situation is sustained
