Abstract
The sealing system for separating air and water is essential to increase efficiency when recovering hydropower energy, e.g., ocean current, tidal power, and streamflow energy. A newly invented biomimetic sealing system that artificially reproduces the mechanism of natural synovial joints is composed of two hydrated seal lips made of polyvinyl formal and a non-Newtonian fluid. In this report, an ideal generation system for streamflow was designed, and a generation experiment was conducted using a generation system with the biomimetic sealing systems installed.
