Abstract :
This paper describes an effective nonlinear controller with a systematic design procedure to capture the maximum power from variable speed wind turbine. The nonlinear wind energy conversion system (WECS) is described by the Takagi-sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model using local linear dynamic state space models. The goal is to design local PI controllers on the basic of these linear models. The overall controller output is computed as a weighted sum of the local PI controllers to mantain the generator speed around its rated value by manipulating the pitch angle. Simulation results on the mentioned plant show the performance of the designed controller.
