Abstract :
This paper presents methods of a node voltage control and line loss surppression using Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) on a radial distribution system. A series converter of UPFC controls the node voltage on the load side of the converter. A shunt converter of UPFC controls the reactive current on the power supply side of the converter and suppresses the line loss of the reactive current. The effectiveness of proposed control of UPFC has been verified by experiment using a laboratory prototype system.
