Abstract :
This paper presents an approach to design a DCM controller for digital DC-DC step-up converter running in a traditional 16 bit, low consumption and 3 V powered microcontroller, whose purpose is to regulate its own power supply from an input energy source around 1 V. Starting from the performance specifications, it´s described the controller parameters determination through a step-by-step procedure using the Direct Design approach. Practical aspects regarding bootstrap techniques as well frequency response plots and measurements taken on the generated prototype are presented.
