Abstract :
This paper presents an analytical method for the design of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) equipped with several and odd number of radial magnet bars with different remanence. The thickness of each magnet bar is fixed. So that, the magnetization waveform generated has almost sinus waveform. The proposed rotor structure is an alternative to the well-known Halbach and hybrid magnetization which exhibits low cogging torque and torque ripple. The analytical solution is derived by solving the field governing equations in each subdomain and with applying the boundary and interfaces conditions. Analytical results are validated by the finite-element method (FEM).
