Abstract
In this paper two key features of synchronous reluctance motors (Syn-RM) are analysed and proposed for high electrical torque, power factor & efficiency using finite element method (FEM). The total width of the flux barriers is kept same for all studies throughout. The numbers of flux barriers, location of single flux barrier as well as location of multiple flux barriers are varied. FEM is used for simulation while saliency ratios are optimised while design parameters (location and number of barriers) are analysed.
