Abstract
This paper presents a comprehensive review for short circuit fault in electrical motors particularly PMSM. First different factors leading to this fault, such as various stresses on the motors, are proposed; then different fault diagnosis methods in induction motors, permanent magnet motors and brush-less dc motors are proposed. Advantages and drawbacks of these fault diagnosis techniques related to the precision and quickness of the methods are discussed.
