Abstract :
Pickett-Potter horn reflector antenna is very popular in applications where a radiation pattern with suppressed side lobes and equal E-beam and H-beam widths are required. In this paper, for 8.7 GHz, we optimize three parameters such as step transition, conical horn length and aperture length of Pickett-Potter horn reflector antenna to increase bandwidth level. We design and test the antenna within Ansoft HFSS antenna simulator. For each optimize design parameter, measured return loss is -30 dB. The antenna with optimized parameters shows better performance than conventional Pickett-Potter horn reflector antenna in terms of bandwidth and comparable performance in terms of VSWR, antenna gain, main lobe magnitude, reflection coefficient, side lobe magnitude, radiation efficiency.
