Abstract
This paper presents a novel structure design of Gigahertz Transverse Electromagnetic (GTEM) cell for EMC test in the RF & Microwave laboratory, National Institute of Metrology, Thailand (NIMT). The aim is to design a GTEM cell with a size of 1.1m × 2.1m × 0.8m (W×L×H) over a frequency range of 40 MHz to 1 GHz. The ferrite tile absorbers for EMC test in anechoic chamber are mounted on the inner surfaces of GTEM cell to improve RF absorption. All GTEM cell components are designed based on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) design studio. The field uniformity and electric-fields, very important parameters of the GTEM cell, are simulated and compared to the IEC 61000-4-20 standards. Finally, the testing volume below the septum is determined regarding its field uniformity.
